10/22/2018 UPDATE: Encore is now the primary catalog!
We are excited to announce that beginning October 22nd, 2018 Encore will become our primary catalog search method. This intuitive, Google-like experience will provide multiple ways to refine your search to find exactly what you need, whether it be books, digital titles, dvds, audiobooks, music, and more. With the click of a button you’ll also be able to place a hold on a digital title in our OverDrive collection or connect to the Commonwealth Catalog to continue your search throughout Massachusetts without multiple sign-in screens.

CLAMS has launched our new text messaging service powered by Shoutbomb.
With the Shoutbomb Text Messaging Service, you can use your mobile phone to:
- Receive text notices about: your holds that are available, items that are due soon, overdues, and fines.
- Send a text to renew an item.
- Receive text alerts for other cards within your family.
All you need is a text messaging capable phone and a subscription to a text messaging plan with your wireless carrier. You do not need a smartphone.

Who doesn’t like a discount? Your local CLAMS library may offer free- to-you, or discounted passes for: museums, art centers, and more. Check the online list and visit your library’s website for more information. Libraries will vary in selection, reservation, and lending policies.
When you want to search beyond CLAMS – we now offer a new service. This replaces the old “virtual catalog”. The Commonwealth Catalog allows CLAMS patrons to find items not available at a CLAMS library. It searches through millions of titles at participating libraries across Massachusetts. CLAMS has added an online guide to reading available to all CLAMS library users. NoveList Plus covers fiction and non-fiction and offers Author Read-alikes, Book Discussion Guides, Feature Articles, Award Winner lists, and much more. Access NoveList Plus here.
Next time you search the CLAMS Catalog for the latest from your favorite author you will see some great new features. CLAMS has added NoveList Select, a catalog enrichment service, that will turn the catalog into “a place for book discovery, adding reader-focused features such as reading recommendations, series information, book reviews, book jackets, and more” (from the Novelist website). This readers’ advisory service will help readers find just the right book and discover new authors. See an example here (scroll down when you open the link to see series info., etc.).

The ECRC is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care, and our mission is to make materials and resources available to the early childhood community across the Cape & Islands.
