eBook Selection Statement

The CLAMS Digital Catalog is a shared collection of materials in various electronic formats, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and video. The goal of our electronic content selection policy is to further support our mission of empowering our libraries to provide excellent services to their communities through resource sharing technology. To support this goal, we curate a broad collection of purchased and licensed content which includes:

  • Simultaneous use titles and collections (no holds/no waiting, always available)
  • Patron requests for new titles
  • Additional copies to reduce holds ratios and wait times
  • Metered access licenses that are expiring with active holds
  • Collections and content that support strategic priorities
  • Value priced collections (publisher promotional pricing and packages)
  • Recommendations from member libraries

Reconsideration of Materials

CLAMS adheres to the principles of intellectual freedom outlined in the American Library Association’s Library Bill of RightsFreedom to Read and Freedom to View policy statements in selecting content for our shared electronic collections. We curate a diverse collection based on the needs and interests of the communities that we serve.

Patrons who wish to request reconsideration of materials available in the CLAMS Digital Catalog (i.e. OverDrive/Libby) should contact the Library Director at their local CLAMS library.
