Purpose


The CLAMS (Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing) Library Network uses social media sites to promote and highlight events and resources offered by CLAMS member libraries and to raise awareness of the role of libraries in today’s world. These social media sites consist of any website or mobile application account created and maintained by the CLAMS Library Network. They include, but are not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs. The CLAMS Library Network social media policy applies to all users of CLAMS social media sites.

Privacy


Users should have no expectation of privacy when posting on CLAMS social media sites. Users should be aware that third party sites have their own privacy policies.

Monitoring


The CLAMS Library Network reserves the right to monitor the content on its social media sites. Posting will be monitored by CLAMS staff for relevancy and content. All postings containing inappropriate content will be removed and the user will be blocked from posting any subsequent messages.
Examples of inappropriate content include:

  • Offensive language or hate speech
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
  • Plagiarized or copy-written material
  • Potentially libelous statements
  • Commercial advertisements, comments, or links not related to the discussion or spam
  • Private, personal information published without consent
  • Organized political activity

The CLAMS Library Network is not responsible for enforcing restrictions that a parent or guardian may place on a minor’s use of social media sites.

Attribution


Users should make every attempt to protect copyrighted or other intellectual property rights.

Ownership


Users who post to CLAMS social media sites give CLAMS permission to display name, profile picture, and the content of any posting made without compensation or liability. This permission ends when the posting is deleted.
